A live performer plays music outdoors in the summer time in front of Remai Modern

WEGO’ing? Everything you need to know about our family-friendly summer festival

On Sunday, August 29, visit the museum for WEGO, an epic day in River Landing for all ages. The festival — a partnership between Remai Modern and the Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan — features art, music, dance and more. Plus, there is no cost to attend (donations welcome). There is a lot going on at WEGO, so read on to learn how to make the most of your day.

1. Check the schedule, but get ready to explore

Make sure you don’t miss anything you think is a “must-see”. But just like LUGO, our annual art party and fundraiser, some of the magic can be found by just wandering the site. With multiple stages, roaming performers and events happening both outdoors and indoors, there will always be something exciting happening nearby.

2. Make discoveries at River Landing

In addition to performers on our two mainstages, you can find performers around the museum and River Landing. Watch for our roving performers and an improv/stand-up set featuring Danny Knight and Shawn Cuthand from Gordon Tootoosis  Nīkānīwin  Theatre. Head to the tipi for storytelling and music from Lyndon J. Linklater.

3. Don’t forget to head inside

There is also an exciting program of events happening inside the museum that include artmaking, film, dance parties, exhibitions and more. We are even opening the Level 4 rooftop top balcony for visitors to take in the sights and grab a photo or two.

Andie Palynchuk and Derek Sandbeck will host an interactive art experience in the Cameco Learning Studio during WEGO

4. Capture your experience in the photo booth

Capture a great memory of the day with a one-of-a-kind photo booth. Artist Andrei Feheregyhazi’s augmented reality photo booth on Level 3 of the museum is sure to be a festival fan favourite. Check out the video below to get a preview of Fehergyhazi’s animation skills.

5. Share your WEGO moments!

We can’t wait to share your photos and videos on our social feeds during WEGO. Tag @remaimodern or use the hashtags #WEGOyxe and #remaimodern to make sure we can see and share all the fun from the day.
