A dynamic, nightlife-inspired image of a person mid-movement with long hair sweeping across the frame, illuminated by vivid purple and pink lighting. They’re wearing a black embellished crop top adorned with sequins and fringe details, layered silver necklaces, and visible arm tattoos. The motion blur and dramatic lighting create an energetic, dance-floor atmosphere against a backdrop of dark curtains.

Saskatoon stylist Reginald Sankey and photographer Carey Shaw teamed up to create some sartorial inspiration based on this year’s fashion prompt:

“Capture the vibrancy of the night with outfits that evoke perpetual motion. From the restless waves of fringe to metallic fabric that flickers with movement under party lights, we suggest styles that look best during a twirl on the dance floor.”

Sankey describes wanting to “steal moments from the night” with these looks, capturing pulsating dance floor vibes and style in motion.

The shoot features some of our LUGO Frequencies performers—Amy Grant, Mikhaila Anderson, and Justin Hauber—showcase Sankey’s vision, infusing the looks with their own impeccable style and effortless movement.

Three performers dance on a stage under vivid purple and pink lighting, their movements blurred by motion, with bright neon colours glowing along the floor in front of them.
A person poses confidently under a spotlight, set against dark curtains. They wear a dramatic black and gold outfit with geometric detailing, fringe accents, and a wide belt. Fishnet tights and tall platform heels complete the look. Their bold makeup and styled hair add to the striking, high-fashion appearance.

Amy Grant

Amy Grant has been doing drag for almost a decade now. She has been crowned Miss Divas 2016 and SK’s Drag Superstar 2018. As a proud first-generation immigrant, she always makes sure to incorporate her culture in her art and create spaces for other POC artists to show theirs as well. She is known for her high energy, sensuality, and a hint of camp in her performances. She definitely has a lot of tricks in her sleeve that would make you want more.

What’s your signature style?

Since I’m a drag artist, my style differs depending on my number or what them the show will be. Although in general, I always lean to glamour, edgy and very pop star-like style. Out of drag, my fashion style is usually very androgynous. I like to mix feminine and masculine.

What’s your favourite thing to wear on a night out?

I never forget to wear heels on a night out. I guess I pick fashion over comfort.

What’s your best fashion tip?

Fashion is very subjective, some may like what you wear, some may say it was a tough choice. But the only thing that matters in the end is confidence.

Can you share anything about what you plan to wear to LUGO?

I will be dressed by one of the top designers in Saskatoon, so I will keep this a secret for now. All i can say is it will be a head turner and jaw dropping so you better be ready!

A person stands under a focused spotlight, framed by dark curtains. They wear a black two-piece outfit featuring a sequined lace-up crop top and a high-waisted skirt with feathered trim. Ankle boots complete the look. Tattoos are visible on their arms and legs, and their relaxed yet confident stance gives the scene a runway-style, performance feel.

Mikhaila Anderson

With more than fifty performances, including Ness Creek and Living Skies music festivals, The Radiant mesmerizes audiences on both large and intimate stages. The Radiant will perform alongside dancer Meghann Michalsky on the latter’s latest choreography project.
