Fifth Anniversary Celebration | In Photos

Remai Modern turned 5 years old last weekend! Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate this milestone with us. It was the beginning of an exciting new chapter at the museum, as October 22 marked the first day of by-donation admission every day we’re open, for the next 20 years. This change was made possible thanks to a monumental $10 million contribution from the Frank and Ellen Remai Foundation.

We’re thrilled to make the museum more accessible, and welcome everyone in our community to see our exhibitions and programming. Check out the photos below as the community gathered together for this special occasion.

The celebration began with hoop dancing from Lawrence Roy Jr., accompanied by drummer Elmer Tootoosis. Even the guests had a chance to try out hoop dancing for themselves.

Music was provided by The Local Group. This Saskatoon-based quartet puts their own unique spin on hard-driving traditional bluegrass, while seamlessly blending in their original songs and their passion for country, Celtic, and Canadiana.
